Charles "Chuck" Miller, 78, of S. Maple St., Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Covenant Specialty Care, Lubbock, Texas. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 10:30 am, Friday, February 22, 2013 at First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Dean Coonradt officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Charles "Chuck" Miller was born on June 8, 1934, in Aberdeen, South Dakota to Stephen and Rosa (Ell) Miller. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Chuck married Sue Branscum on June 22, 1955 in Allerton, MA. They moved to Carlsbad in 1959 and bought A&W Drive-in which they owned and operated and later sold to the Thompsons. Chuck was active at the San Jose Senior Center and attended First Church of the Nazarene where he enjoyed his many friendships. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael Miller; sisters: Cecelia Nichols, Theresa Lenti and twin sister, Mildred Miller. Survivors are his wife, Sue Miller of Carlsbad, NM; daughters: Leesa Buckland and husband, Thom of Gresham, OR and Shay Smith and husband, Robert of Chelan, WA; grandchildren: Steven Charles Fiala of Portland, OR and Alexander Charles Smith of Chelan, WA; Alicia Liberty and husband, Trace of Damascus, Oregon; one great-grandchild, Brooklyn Nicole Liberty; brother, Joseph Miller of Puyallup, WA; sisters: Marie Pedee of Tacoma, WA, Julia Wtzstein of Tacoma, WA, Barbara Krueger of Raymond, WA and Rita Krueger of Coulee City, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
