Charles was born in Wilcox, Arizona Territory to Jesse Albert Beanblossom and Mary Melissa Banks Beanblossom on August 14, 1909 and lived in a number of states including Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas before settling in New Mexico.
He met and married Dovie Lena Guilliams in Weed, New Mexico on January 2, 1933. They had one daughter Betty Rae Handley. They moved to Carlsbad in June 1941 where he worked for Potash Company of America until his retirement in August, 1974.
He is survived by his daughter, Betty Rae Handley and husband, Mabry of Mundelein, Illinois; two grandchildren: Garry Wayne Handley of Mundelein, Illinois and Shelda Rae Dobson and husband, Terry of Hainesville, Illinois; two great-granddaughters: Kristin Rae Dobson and Keri Lynn Dobson of Hainesville, Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dovie in February 2005, soon after their 72nd anniversary; his parents; two sisters: Pruda Rae Coffman and Mae Benedict; four brothers: Everett Beanblossom, Roy Beanblossom, Jerome Beanblossom and Raymond Beanblossom.
Charles and his wife, Dovie, took great pride in their home and yard and were pleased when their yard was named yard of the month. He was also a great wood craftsman turning out many skilled pieces. Charles was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Carlsbad.
Following his wife's death, Charles made his home in Mundelein, Illinois with his daughter and family. He had a great sense of humor and loved telling his grandkids and great-grandkids stories from the past.
Charles was greatly loved and respected by his family and friends and will be tremendously missed by them all. He truly lived the Golden Rule -- Do unto others.
Visitation will be 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Friday, November 20, 2009 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 PM, Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brad Coates officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery.
