Charles A. Brown, 94, of Palomas Drive, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Lakeview Christian Home.
Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Friday, May 24, 2013 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, May 25, 2013, 2:00 PM, at Sunset Church of Christ with Brian McGonagill officiating.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Charles A. Brown was born June 4, 1918 in Pecos County, Texas to Charlie Caleb and Maggie Elvira (Allison) Brown. He graduated from high school in Miles, TX. Charlie married Daphna Autry on April 7, 1943 in San Angelo, TX. He served his country in the US Army Air Corp. during WWII, receiving the American Defense Ribbon, Pre-Pearl Harbor Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. Charlie and Daphna moved to Carlsbad in 1946 and he went to work for PCA. Charlie retired in 1980 after 34 years of service. He was a member of Sunset Church of Christ and was past-president of American International Association of Machinists. Charlie enjoyed fly-fishing, camping, hunting and mechanic work. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Linda Sheryl Brown; daughter-in-law, Karen Brown; brother, Thomas M. Brown; sisters: Margie Martin and Wanda E. Brown.
Survivors are wife, Daphna Brown of Carlsbad, NM; two sons: Gene Brown and wife, Patricia of Amarillo, TX, Barry S. Brown of Carlsbad, NM; four grandchildren: Laura Porterfield and husband, Doyle, Donna Monroe and husband, Joseph, Teresa Moody and husband, Levi, Brad Brown; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister, Rose Marie Flood of Dallas, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brad Brown, Travis Courson, Floy Autry, Mike Rupe, Jimmy Neatherlin and Levi Moody.
