Cecil D. Arnold, 86, of Cimarron Trail, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Friday, January 16, 2015. Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, January 21, 2015, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Terry McKean, Lakeveiw Hospice officiating. Masonic Rites will be performed by Eddy Lodge # 21 AF&AM. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Cecil was born in Evant, Texas on February 15, 1928 to Forrest and Elva (Erskine) Arnold, the sixth of eight children. They moved to Hagerman, NM in 1938, and worked on the Diamond A. Ranch. After finishing high school, he was drafted into the Army in September 1950. After being honorably discharged, he met Linda Lynall and they were married in 1954. They bore two children: Roby in 1955 and Malinda in 1958. In 1964, Cecil went to work at Electric Supply, and in 1970 he became a part owner of the company. He retired from Electric Supply in 1989, and devoted his time to his family. In 1982, he was elected to the board of directors for Carlsbad National Bank, a position he served for 26 years. Over the years, Cecil was involved with veterans' organizations including the American Legion and VFW. He also became members of BPOE Elks #1558 and Eddy Masonic Lodge No. 21. Throughout his life, he enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, RVing, and most especially when grandchildren came into his life: Ryan, Randy, Robby and Dylan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Elva; and three brothers and sisters: Deuward, Buddy, Lewis, Eunice, Bernice and Reva. Survivors are his wife, Linda Arnold of Carlsbad, NM; two children: Roby Arnold and wife, Cassandra of Carlsbad, NM, Malinda Taylor and husband, Levi of Carlsbad, NM; brother, Tainey Arnold; four grandchildren: Ryan Arnold, Randy Arnold, Robby Arnold and Dylan Taylor; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lakeview Christian Hospice Care, 1300 N. Canal Street, Carlsbad, NM 88220 Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com
