Cathy Yates

Cathy Yates, 53, of Nichol Road, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Friday, October 17, 2014. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, October 23, 2014, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Tarvin officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Cathy Yates was born September 28, 1961, in Toledo, Ohio to Joseph and Connie (Harper) Roslin. She married Russell Yates November 18, 1981 in Carlsbad. For 20 years, Cathy worked as a technical editor in the records department for various government sub-contractors for WIPP. She enjoyed reading and antiquing. Cathy enjoyed taking trips with her husband, especially to Las Vegas. She loved her family and weekend BBQs. Cathy was the foundation of the family and was always there for her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Connie Roslin; infant daughter, Vanessa Lynn Yates; maternal and paternal grandparents. Survivors are her husband, Russell Yates of Carlsbad, NM; daughters: Melissa Marshall and Toby Tiller of Carlsbad, NM, Colleen Steen and husband, Harley of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Justin Marshall, Austin Marshall, Abby Marshall, Samantha Tiller, J.T. Tiller, Maci Tiller, Brandon Steen, Zowie Steen; father, Joseph Roslin and wife, Bonnie of Alabama; sisters: Sandy Ross and husband, David of Henderson, Nevada, Tabitha Odom and husband, Greg of Carlsbad, NM; step-brother, Allan Focht and wife, Lori of Ohio; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
