Carroll A. Caudill, II, 58, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away February 3, 2023 at his home. Visitation will be 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 9, 2023 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Howell Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM.
Carroll A. Caudill, II was born April 10, 1964 in Amarillo, Texas to Betty (Sumruld) and Carroll A. Caudill. He graduated high school in Brackettville, Texas and joined the United States Army Military Police Corps. He served from 1983 to 1993 where he reached the rank of Sergeant. Carroll was a Special Reaction Team (SWAT) member as well as protective services detachment member where he served as the personal security officer for the V Corps Commanding General in Frankfurt, Germany.
In 1993, after leaving the Army, Carroll joined the Eddy County Sherriff’s Office where he served as a K-9 handler, patrol deputy, tactical response team member and commander. Carroll was also a member of the Pecos Valley Drug Task Force where he obtained the rank of captain and was appointed commander of the Pecos Valley Drug Task Force.
After retirement, Carroll went to work in the oil field at Devon Energy Corporation as an investigator/security specialist. He was most proud of his marriage to the love of his life, Carolyn Jean Kezar Caudill. They were married in 1995. Carroll and Carolyn raised two children together: Misty Norby and Kiah V. Caudill.
Most important of all was Carroll’s love for the Lord! Carroll was a Deacon at First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his stepfather Thomas Lawson.
Survivors are his wife, Carolyn Caudill; daughter, Misty Norby and husband, Cole; son, Kiah V. Caudill and wife, Courtney; granddaughter, Bryndle Norby; mother, Betty Lawson; father, Carroll Caudill and wife, Darlene; siblings: Chris Caudill and wife, Connie, Debbie Ross and husband, Richard, Cyndi Lawson Trower, Colleen Lawson Rogers and husband, Mike, Ross Lawson and wife, Karen, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Beau Johnston, Brent Hunt, Chad Denning, Richard Hunt, Tyler Caudill and Raymond Wells.
Memorial contributions may be made to Faith, Hope and Love. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com
