Carolyn Wages

Carolyn Wages, 72, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023, in Alamogordo, NM. Carolyn was born in Roswell, NM on July 9, 1950, to Roman and Lucinda Nuñez. 

Cremation has taken place, and the family has planned a celebration of life service for 1:00 PM Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 4206 Jones Street Carlsbad, N.M. 88220

Carolyn was a smart and lively person. She had a great memory, and knew all the old country songs. She loved to sing and dance, and she was a great pool shooter. Carolyn spent some time working at on her father’s ranch, and was a Lincoln County Fair Queen. A fun fact about Carolyn, was she a great granddaughter of Jose Chavez y Chavez. Carolyn’s greatest joy and greatest achievement in life were her children and grandchildren. She loved going to their sporting events and was their number one fan. She also was blessed by having dear friends, Jack and Belia Mendoza and Linda Lujan, in her life. Carolyn will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Roman Chavez Nuñez; mother, Lucinda (Cordoba) Nuñez; son, Cassidy Wages; six siblings: Waldo Nuñez, R.C. Nuñez, Daniel Nuñez, George “Dody” Nuñez, Larry Nuñez, and Anita Nuñez. 

Carolyn is survived by her two children: Dustin Cody Wages of Carlsbad, NM; and Danna Nuñez and Daniel Cunningham of Carlsbad, NM; daughter-in-law, Monica Wages of Carlsbad, NM; fourteen grandchildren: Jordan Wages, Jade Wages, Jazmina Wages, Amery Wages, Draevynn Fierro, Silas Wages, Hunter Cunningham, Josiah Cunningham, Cassidy Nuñez, Brooklyn Cunningham, Deason Cunningham, Tyler Wages, Gavyn Wages, and Garrett Wages; two great grandchildren: Khaleesi Ann Sandate and Asher Cunningham; four siblings: Patsy Sanchez and husband, Anthony of Carazozo, NM; Frances Nuñez of Las Cruces, NM; Fred Nuñez of Tucson, AZ; and Andy Nuñez and wife, Carolyn of Hatch, NM; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
