Carolina Renteria Acosta, 93, of West Plaza Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Lakeview Christian Home. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Thursday, July 16, 2015, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, July 17, 2015, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Martin Cordero officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Carolina Renteria Acosta was born September 3, 1921 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Fernando and Guadalupe (Sotelo) Renteria. She attended school in Carlsbad. Carolina married Gene Acosta on September 18, 1940 here in Carlsbad. She loved children, especially babies and baby sat numerous years throughout her life. Many kids that she once babysat have kept in touch with her. Carolina was an active member of San Jose Catholic Church where she served on the Altar Society. She loved to dance, enjoyed music and was an excellent cook. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene "Gene" Acosta, sons: Edward Acosta, Eddie Acosta; great-grandson, Zachary Lopez; brothers: Jose Renteria, Gilbert Renteria and sister, Elvira Lopez. Survivors are daughters: Virginia Lopez and husband, Frank of Carlsbad, NM, Lena Jean Carrasco and husband, Trine of Carlsbad, NM, Yolanda Repinecz and husband, Martin of Houston, TX, Loyola Saiz of Carlsbad, NM, Jaqueline Acosta of El Paso, TX; grandchildren: Janet Lopez, Kenneth Lopez, Annette Saiz, Richard Saiz, Martin Gene Repinecz, Jonathan Michael Repinecz, Delano Acosta, Breanna Acosta; 15 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Fernando Renteria, Jr.; sister, Delia Rodriguez and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Kenneth Lopez, Richard Saiz, Martin Gene Repinecz, Jonathan Michael Repinecz, Delano Acosta, Anton Saiz and Darrian Lopez. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
