Carol M. Mendoza

Carol M. Mendoza, 60, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023, in Lubbock, TX surrounded by her family. Carol was born on August 12, 1963, in Carlsbad, NM to Enocencio and Thelma Castillo.

Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Cremation will follow, and a graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the Carlsbad Cemetery with Pastor Gabe Rubio officiating.

Carol grew up in Carlsbad, NM and graduated from CHS in 1981. She then went on to marry the love of her life, Mike, on June 23, 1984. They started their family with three children and moved to Albuquerque, NM for 13 years before moving back to Carlsbad. Later when her grandchildren came along, they became her world. Family time was so important to her, and she cherished every moment she could spend with them. Carol was known by others to have a loving and caring heart. She would always help others and brighten your day when you saw her. She lived life care free, and could often be found at her favorite spot in the garden sitting in her swing. Carol has left this world too soon, but her legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.  

Carol was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Juan and Merced Melendrez.

Carol is survived by her loving husband, Mike Mendoza, Sr. of Carlsbad, NM; three children: Mike Mendoza, Jr. of Sundown, TX; Matthew Mendoza of Carlsbad, NM; and Marissa Mendoza and John Ramirez, Jr. of Carlsbad, NM; eleven grandchildren: Mike Mendoza, III, Eviana Mendoza, Ezequiel Mendoza, Ivy Mendoza, Amari Galindo, Odyssey Galindo, Alexi Galindo, John Ramirez, III, Madilyn Ramirez, Carolyne Ramirez, and Josiah Ramirez; parents, Enocencio and Thelma Castillo; four siblings all of Carlsbad, NM: Yolanda Castillo; Sally Franco and husband, Bobby; Tommy Castillo and wife, Veronica; and Lisa Clothier; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
