On the morning of January 9th, Carol Jean Jones passed away peacefully in the home where she raised and loved her family. She was 67 years of age, born on April 8, 1948 to George and Lorene Cummins in Del Rio, Texas. She was the third child of five siblings and cherished all the memories of her grandparents, mother, brother, and sisters. She resided there until she married her husband of 48 years, Howard Jones. Carol started her family in Tucson, Arizona where she had a son, and then later moved to Carlsbad, NM, where she gave birth to her daughter. Carol had four grandchildren and a great granddaughter that she loved with all her heart. She treasured spending every spring and summer day working in her beautiful yard that was always full of birds and butterflies: her flower gardens were her pride and joy. Carol loved nature and would often sit outside for hours enjoying all of her surroundings. She also enjoyed spending time traveling with her family: going on cruises and taking frequent trips to Las Vegas with her husband. She dedicated her life to taking care of her husband, children, grandchildren, home, and yard. Carol was a kind and beautiful woman who was a friend to all. She was known to her grandchildren as "Meme" and to her friends as C.J.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lorene Cummins of Del Rio, Texas; one sister, Margaret Jo Cummins, and one nephew, Michael Wilcox of Amarillo, Texas. She is survived by her son, Kirk Jones and partner, Joe Benson of Morrison, Colorado, her daughter, Janeyre Ramirez and husband, Edward Ramirez of Carlsbad, New Mexico, four grandchildren that all resided in Carlsbad, New Mexico: Kyra D'nae Campos-Ramirez, 22, Emily Noel Ramirez, 19, Jesse Edward Ramirez, 15, Luke Everett Ramirez, 9, and great granddaughter Ameliah Ramirez, 1. She is also survived by two sisters: Irene O'Bryant and husband, Ernest and Sharon "Tiny" Verdon and husband, George and her brother George Cummins along with numerous nieces and nephews. A wake and memorial gathering will be held at the family home at 1:00 pm on Thursday January 14. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in honor of Carol's memory.
