Carol Kathryn Boyd

Carol Kathryn Boyd, 70, of North 6th Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015 at her home. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, December 12, 2015, 2:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David W. Rogers officiating. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Carol Kathryn Boyd was born December 30, 1944 in Kayford, West Virginia to James Robert and Virginia Kathryn (Holbrook) Yates. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1962 and enlisted in the Army where she received her LPN. Carol served in San Antonio, Texas, Washington, D.C., Valley Forge and Fort Aniston, AL. She received her RN from New Mexico State University in 1980. She was employed as a nurse with Dr. Lisa Perkowski and Lakeview Nursing Home for over 40 years. Carol enjoyed cooking, reading and listening to music. She also loved to travel. She was preceded in death by her father, James Robert Yates; mother, Virginia Kathryn Holbrook; brother, Robert Larry Yates and sister, Patricia Gipson. Survivors are her daughters: Leatha Ann Boyd of Schertz, Texas, Michelle Lee Williams of Ft. Collins, Colorado; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild, Athena Piston of New Jersey; brothers: Archie Yates of California, Bruce Yates of Carlsbad, NM, Russell Yates of Carlsbad, NM; sisters: Lavera Gibson of Georgia, Marsha Dudley of Carlsbad, NM, Aloha Colt of Carlsbad, NM and Barbara Boatwright of Carlsbad, NM. Honorary pallbearers are her siblings: Archie Yates, Bruce Yates, Russell Yates, Lavera Gibson, Marsha Dudley, Aloha Colt and Barbara Boatwright. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com
