Carlos "Los" Ray Mendoza Gonzales, 21, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021 in Carlsbad. Visitation will be 4:00 PM-7:00 PM, Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Faith Baptist Church, 2415 Florida Street. Services are scheduled for Friday, April 30, 2021 at 10:00 AM, at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 605 N. 6th Street, with Pastor Jacob Reitz officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangement. Carlos Ray Mendoza Gonzales was born July 16, 1999 in Hobbs, NM. He was a gifted athlete, playing many sports through school. Los graduated from Carlsbad High School in 2017. He worked at Constructors, Inc. for several years and later for Hamilton Roofing and Elite Tire.
He loved hanging out with his friends and listening to music. Los enjoyed cooking on the grill and always loved his Tia Beva’s home made tortillas. He cherished his wela and would do anything for her. Carlos was preceded in death by welo Ramon D. Mendoza, Sr., Espiridion and Maria Hernandez and best friend Kenny Jones. Survivors are his parents: Espi and Mary Grace Hernandez; father: Charles Gonzales; wella, Rosa E. Mendoza; brothers: Oscar M. Gonzales, III, Charles Gonzales, Jr. and wife Linda, Andrew Gonzales, William Hernandez and wife, Maria, Joel Hernandez and wife, Chenay; sisters: Valerie Gonzales, Marlene Gonzales and Cryselda H. Perez and husband, Pete: nephews: Dominic, Dondre and Devon; nieces: Leah and Lailah H. Gonzales; aunts and uncles: Elsa and Tim Funchess, Ramon D. and Rachel Mendoza, Jr.; Godparents: Isaias and Elida Valencia and Russ and Debi Gilmore and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Pallbearers are Darion Archibeque, Jesse Kessler, Manuel Sanchez, Aaron Millman, Coda Duarte, Isaac Methola, J.R. Bustamante and Jose Carrillo. Honorary pallbearers are Marcos Munoz, Jr., Dondre Gonzales, Isaiah Chavarria, Ethan Ortiz, Devon Garza, Isaiah Sanchez, Trevor Rogers, Dominic Gonzales, Avery Balderrama, Nick Castaneda, Waylon Mendoza, Chris Castorena and Michael Lee.
