Carl “Old Fart” Harrelson, 88, of Carlsbad, New Mexico passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021, at Lakeview Christian Home. Carl was born on August 19, 1933, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Doyle and Jewel Harrelson.

Cremation had taken place, and graveside service is scheduled for 9:00 AM Friday, November 5, 2021, at the Carlsbad Cemetery with Chaplain Terry McKean officiating.

Carl was the middle of nine children growing up. Over his career, he worked road construction, Eddy Potash, and City of Carlsbad meals for the homebound program. Carl enjoyed going fishing and camping, going to casinos, and playing marbles and horseshoes.

Carl is preceded in death by his father, Doyle Harrelson; mother, Jewel (Prather) Harrelson; and his eight siblings.

Carl is survived by his three children: Sonia Mathews, Carl Harrelson, Jr. and wife Ann, and Jimmy Harrelson; eight grandchildren: Arron Harrelson and wife Kimberly, Thomas Mathews, Jeremy Rodriguez and wife Alyssa, Tim Briones, Jr. and girlfriend Kristle Parraz, Bubba Briones and girlfriend Jordan Woolsey, Onetia Rios and husband Kenneth, Regina Briones and husband Jerry Wagner, and Tracy; nineteen great-grandchildren: Kyra Harrelson, Xavyer Harrelson, Aliyah Harrelson, Matthias Rodriguez, Maddilyn Rodriguez, Cody Briones, Tayler Briones, Zoe Rhoades, Bryson Briones, Weldon Briones, Brodee Hedgecock, Brooklyn Cantwell, Kamrien Rios, Kamille Rios Kailyah Rios, Keleb Rios, Skyler Wagner, Jaclyn Wagner, and Jaylee Wagner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
