Candelario Acosta Carrasco, Jr

Candelario Acosta Carrasco, Jr., 79, of Carrasco Road, Loving, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Covenant Medical Center. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, March 9, 2013, 2:00 PM, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 301 S. 4th St., Loving, with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Loving Cemetery, Loving, New Mexico. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Candelario Acosta Carrasco, Jr. was born on December 24, 1933, in Malaga, NM to Candelario and Cruz (Acosta) Carrasco, Sr. He graduated from Carlsbad High School and was a proud member of the FFA. The love and joy of his life was his family. Candelario made sure everyone was always taken care of. Farming and ranching was his passion, he did it all of his life. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1955 - 1957 on the USS Princeton. Candelario had a generous heart, always offering a kind word, a listening ear, a funny story and he always had a smile on his face. Strangers immediately became friends (or relatives)! He had a loving heart for all living things. He married Emma Urquidez on December 28, 1958 in Loving. Candelario enjoyed hunting and horse races. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Loving. Candelario was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark Carrasco and sister, Cornelia Martinez. Survivors are his wife, Emma Carrasco of Loving, NM; children: Crina C. Rios and husband, Norberto of Malaga, NM, Ruben Carrasco and wife, Beverly of Loving, NM; Candie Rose Rodriguez and husband, Moses of Carlsbad, NM; daughter-in-law: Annette Carrasco of Loving, NM; nine grandchildren: Eric C. Rios and family, Adam C. Rios and family, Cody Carrasco and family, Jared Carrasco and family, Gabriella Carrasco, Andrew Chavez and family, Gabriel Carrillo, Amber Rose Carrillo and Carmen Carrillo; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Conrad Carrasco, Sr. and family; three sisters: Celia Valdez and family, Concepcion Onsurez and family, Corina Carrasco and family and his beloved dog, George. Feel no guilt in laughter, he'd know how much you care. Feel no sorrow in a smile that he is not here to share. You cannot grieve forever; he would not want you to. He'd hope that you could carry on the way you always do. So, talk about the good times and the way you showed you cared, the days you spent together, all the happiness you shared. Let memories surround you, a word someone may say will suddenly recapture a time, an hour, a day, that brings him back as clearly as though he were still here, and fills you with the feeling that he is always near.
