Cadence Marie Lopez

Cadence Marie Lopez, 3, of La Placita Drive, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home A Vigil is scheduled for Sunday, April 27, 2014, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday, April 28, 2014, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Loving Cemetery, Loving, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Cadence Marie Lopez was born October 7, 2010 to Mark and Erika (Rico) Lopez in Carlsbad, NM. Cadence was a remarkable and intelligent little girl and we enjoyed spending every bit of time with her. For most of her life she enjoyed spending time with her best friend, her stuffed monkey, who went everywhere she went. Mom and Dad knew better than to ever leave her monkey behind and if they did she reminded them. Cady later got a new best friend, her baby brother Devin, but she called him "Seven". Cady loved music, dancing, picking flowers, re-enacting her favorite cartoons, playgrounds, and drinking sweet tea. She also loved to play with her toys, brother, parents, grandparents, aunts, and cousins. We will miss Cadence dearly and we know in our hearts one day we will be together again. She was preceded in death by grandmother, Marta Minjares Rico and great-grandparents. Survivors are her parents: Mark and Erika Lopez of Carlsbad, NM; brother, Devin Lane Lopez; paternal grandfather, Henry Lopez and Selina Guevara of Carlsbad, NM; paternal grandmother: Maribel Lopez and Jerry Granger of Carlsbad, NM; maternal grandfather, Hector Ramon Rico of Loving, NM; great-grandmother, Celestina Galindo of Loving, NM; aunts: Yolanda Rico, Lily Rico, Katrina Lopez and cousins: Arianna and Aliyah Franco. Pallbearers will be Mark Lopez, Perfecto Duran, III, Josh Mares and James Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearer is her brother, Devin "Seven" Lane Lopez. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
