Bruce Murray Jeffress

Bruce Murray Jeffress, 67, of Westernway Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away April 12, 2025, peacefully in his home, in the presence of his loving wife and dog Molly.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A service will be held at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM.

Bruce was born November 29, 1957, in Carlsbad, NM, to Howard Murray Jeffress and Betty Jean Bright. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1975. Following high school, Bruce worked for Wesco Construction for 13 years, then as a crane operator for 11 years at IMCC, and finished his career at WIPP, where he worked for 24 years as the Hoisting Manager. In 2004, Bruce graduated Magna Cum Laude from Columbia Southern University with a bachelor’s degree in environmental management. Bruce married Liz Buck on January 22, 1982. Bruce was a loving husband, a wonderful father of two daughters and one son, and a proud Papa to four granddaughters. He was a devoted son, grandson, and brother to 3 siblings.

Above all else, Bruce loved his family, animals, and helping others in need. Bruce had many passions, but few were greater than playing golf and fishing. He was rarely seen without a Dodgers hat and a smile on his face. Bruce was and will continue to be loved by many and greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty.

Survivors are Bruce’s father, Howard; wife, Liz, daughter Jana Aguilar and Mario, daughter Christa Estrada and Chris; son Dale Jeffress and Karey; granddaughters Maddison Aguilar, Savannah Aguilar, Jacie Estrada, and Katie Aguilar; siblings Susan Briggs and Skipper, Robert Wynn and Terri, and David Wynn and Nicki, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great friends.

Pallbearers will be Fred Garcia, Robert Garcia, Chris Hernandez, Scott Higgins, Hank Miller, Happy Scheel.

The family would like to express gratitude to the nurses and staff at Enhabit Hospice, with special thanks to Crystal and Jessica.
