Bridgette Jayne Cunningham

Bridgette Jayne Cunningham was born on October 20, 2022. Her birth was a miraculous gift to her parents and to all who had anxiously awaited her. Bridgette gained her wings on January 30, 2024, surrounded by love, cradled in her mom and dad’s embrace.

Bridgette was a light to so many whose lives she touched both physically and spiritually. She was always filled with love, had a smile on her face (Oh that Dimple!), and had a little attitude when it was called for. She loved to “read” and to be read to. Always inquisitive, she’d point at a word for you to tell her what it was. Bridgette also loved music, being sung to, and to sing along. Her love of music led her to her love of dance. Whether in her car seat, in her bed, or in your arms, she’d move to the music.

Bridgette was her daddy’s nap buddy and loved hanging out with him in his shop. She was her mommy’s cuddle bug, who would wrap her tiny hands tightly in her mommy’s hair, as if it was her security blanket. She always wanted to pat or gently touch people, as if to reassure you she was there, as much for herself to know you were still present. She had a presence of grace and thoughtfulness at her young age.

Bridgette loved life and took in everything she could in her short stay here. To the end she’d pat on your shoulder or gently stroke or pat your hands as if to reassure those holding her that she was okay, that it was going to be okay.

She is survived by her parents, John and Shaelynn Cunningham; siblings, Stephanie Warren and Alexis Cunningham; paternal grandparents, Malcolm and Norma Cunningham; maternal grandparents, Phil and Jayne Maxey; uncles and aunts: Justin Cunningham, Will and Tiffany Maxey, Jerome and Destiney Maxey; nieces, Rylie Lewis and Azlyn Methola; nephew, Zayden Methola; cousins: Jaydin, Kyndall, and Wyatt Cunningham, Bentley, Sawyer, Ashlyn, and Luke Maxey; and numerous other family members.

Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, February 9, 2024, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Oasis Church with Pastor Gabe Rubio officiating. After services, cremation will take place, and interment will be at the Carlsbad Cemetery in Carlsbad, NM.
