He is preceded in death by father: Robert Raines, mother: Mary Carpenter, and brother: David P. Raines.
Bob was born in Gary, IN, on October 21, 1949. He graduated in 1967 from Oliver P. Morton High School in Hammond, IN. On June 14, 1969, he and Becky married and lived happily for 51 years before his passing.
After high school, he worked for Inland Steel Mills in Gary, IN, until joining the Navy. He was part of the Seabees in the Navy (Construction Battalion), and he served two tours in Vietnam.
After moving to Carlsbad, Bob worked as an electrician and mechanic for Intrepid Potash. But, even after retiring, he worked consistently on small engine and various other types of repairs for friends and family. He spent many happy hours in his shop at home, repairing just about anything with a motor in it for whoever asked.
Bob was avid an sportsman. Earlier in his life, he enjoyed going down to the river and fishing, whether it was with friends, family, or alone. He also enjoyed hunting, and he, his sons, his grandson Lucas, granddaughter Hannah, and his brother David spent many wonderful days tromping through the brush hunting quail and deer.
Bob enjoyed a rich life, full of loving family and friends. He was never too busy to help anyone in need or to have a visit with anyone that stopped by.
