Obituary Bob Moss, 88, of Monzana, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Goodlife Assisted Living. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, March 10, 2018, 10:00 AM, at First Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Land officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Bob Edward Moss was born in Duncan, OK on March 23, 1929 to James Edward and Wilma Johnson Moss. Bob attended school in Frederick, OK, graduating in May, 1949. He had worked from the time he was a teenager for grocery stores, restaurants, creameries and for an ice-making business. He joined the Air Force in September, 1950, where he served as an Air Policeman in Florida, Alaska, Albuquerque, NM and Austin, TX. While in Frederick, OK on leave, he met Jean Peters. They were married in Albuquerque, NM on May 1, 1954. He was a Staff Sergeant at the time of the end of his enlistment in September, 1954. He returned to Frederick where he managed a Sinclair Service Station for one year and a Conoco Station for three years. He graduated from Southeastern State College, Durant, OK in 1960 with a BS in elementary education and a Masters Degree in Teaching. He and his family, which now included two sons, John and Scott, moved to Carlsbad, NM in August, 1960, where he taught at Roosevelt, Edison and Joe Stanley Smith schools for 28 years. He faithfully attended Blodgett Street Baptist and, later, First Baptist Church, and enjoyed playing golf with the Sr. Par 3 members for many years. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Diana Jean Moss, sister, June Burks and brother, Ted Moss. He is survived by his wife, Jean, his sons, John (Mary) of Irving, TX, and Scott (Vicky) of Tulsa, OK; five grandsons, Jeff (Kelly), Jordan, Andrew, Brandon (Lisa) and Taylor Moss (Hava); granddaughter, Kathleen Moss, three great-grandsons (Aidan, Owen and Ian Sandstrom) and great-granddaughter, Ava Moss. Memorial contributions may be made to Golden Services Hospice, 800 W. Pierce Street, Carlsbad, NM 88220 or to a charity of your choice.
