Obituary
Blas Diego Benavidez, 22, of Algerita Street passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2020, at Del Sol Hospital in El Paso, Texas. Blas was born on May 9, 1997, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Joseph Benavidez and Leslie Sandate.
Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, February 6, 2020, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation will follow, and a memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, January 7, 2020, at Carlsbad First Assembly of God Church officiated by Pastor Ramon Florez. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of making arrangements.
Blas was a loving and caring person. He had big smile and an even bigger heart of gold. One of his greatest joys was when his family was all together spending quality time. Blass motto for life was to love and be loved. Blas was taken too early, and he will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Blas was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandmother, Emilliana Benavidez; grandfather, Leon Sandate, Sr., and brother, Joseph Benavidez.
Blas is survived by his mother, Leslie Sandate and stepfather, Leon of Carlsbad, NM; Father, Joseph Benavidez of Carlsbad, NM; brother, Angelo Sandate of Carlsbad, NM; sister, Brittaney Aragon of San Diego, CA; sister, Tori Fernandez and brother-in-law, Angel Valdez of Carlsbad, NM; brother, Brad Benavidez of Carlsbad, NM; maternal grandparents, Mike and Ida Valenzuela of Carlsbad, NM; grandmother, Emma Sandate of Carlsbad, NM; paternal grandparents, Blas and Lydia Benavidez of Carlsbad NM; maternal great-grandmother, Eva Fernandez of Carlsbad, NM; nephews: Viktor Rodriguez, Nicholas Sandate, Angelo Sandate, Jr., and Aiden Sandate; nieces: Eliyanah Valdez, Aryanna Sandate, and Lilyanna Sandate; and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
