Billy Gruben, 72, passed away at his home in Carlsbad on Saturday, November 16, 2013, after a short battle with lung cancer.
Billy was born in Rotan, Texas to Paul and Virginia Gruben on June 17, 1941. He spent some time as a cowboy on several ranches in New Mexico and Kansas, and 18 years in the National Guard. Billy spent the biggest part of his life in the oilfield in New Mexico. He was employed by Madron Services at the time of his death. Billy was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Gruben; sons: Lance Gruben and James Pierce; daughter, Juleigha Pierce; sisters: Paula Glover and Mignon Counts; two grandsons and two granddaughters.
Upon his request, there will be no memorial or visitation. Cremation has taken place. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com
