Billy Jack Baker, 78, of East London Road, Loving, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Carlsbad Medical Center.
There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, January 21, 2012, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at 3303 Prospect, Carlsbad, NM.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Billy Jack Baker was born February 25, 1933 in Wise County, Texas to Charlie E. and Thelma Myrtle (Hastings) Baker. He was drafted into the US Army and served in the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged. In March of 1959 he married Judy Goff in Post, Texas. They moved to Loving, NM in 1966. He worked for 30 years in the potash industry. Billy Jack loved his horses and he loved to dance.
Survivors are his wife, Judy Baker of Loving, NM; 2 daughters: Tonye Baker and husband, Gary Powell of Carlsbad, NM, Tracye Spears and husband, Jimmy of Carlsbad, NM; son, Roy Lee Baker of Loving, NM; grandson, Cody Dean Baker and wife, Liz of Carlsbad, NM; great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Baker of Carlsbad, NM; brother, Ed Ray Baker and wife, Beverly of Texas; two sisters: Lorriane Sims of Texas, Phyllis Baker of Arizona; four nephews, two nieces and a host of friends both two legged and four legged.
