Billie Jean Hammond, 74, of East Orchard Lane, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Carlsbad Medical Center.
There will be no visitation, cremation will take place.
A Graveside Service is scheduled for Wednesday, August 19, 2015, 2:00 PM, at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park with Pastor Randy C. Land officiating.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Billie Jean Hammond was born January 12, 1941 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Kenneth Odell and Ruth Omega (Burgess) Monk. She graduated from Carlsbad High School. Billie went to work for Kay and Claude McCausland at World Wide Travel and later opened World Wide Travel in Hobbs. After returning to Carlsbad she owned Tumbleweed Travel. Billie's hobbies included studying the Bible, golfing and painting. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Survivors are step-daughter, Gwen Shock and husband, Glen; step-sons: Bill Hammond and wife, Amy, Jay Hammond and wife, Brenda, Glen Hammond and wife, Jackie, Todd Hammond and wife, Dawn; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; cousin, Suzette Johnson and husband, Gary and numerous other cousins and extended family.
