Betty June Rennie, 93, of Mountain Shadow Drive, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016 at her home.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Chaplain Terry McKean officiated the service.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Betty June was born to Clyde and Clara (Ditterline) Calvert on April 24, 1923. She grew up with two brothers and three sisters during The Great Depression. Betty met Ed Rennie while she was in high school. He became the love of her life. They were married November 21, 1940 and have enjoyed 76 years of a blessed life together. During World War II Betty worked in a factory assembling jeeps used in the war. After the war, Ed and June resumed married life and started a family. They moved to Carlsbad, NM in 1952 and have resided here ever since. She was a mother to two children and a homemaker. Later in life Betty worked for several years at Furr's Super Market as a meat wrapper. After retirement she and Ed enjoyed many years of traveling in a RV. She was a great cook, wife, mother and grandmother. June enjoyed three special dogs in her life: Misty, Josie and Toby. She will be greatly missed by her family. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors are her husband, Ed Rennie of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Linda Rennie-Tice and husband, David of Carlsbad, NM; son, Steven E. Rennie and wife, Barbara of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Leslie Sisk, Steven B. Rennie and James Kyle Rennie; great-grandchildren: Steven Gage Rennie, Austin Rennie and Madison Rennie; sister, Virginia Solami and beloved dog, Toby.
