Betty Polk

Betty Polk, 85, former resident, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015 in De Soto, Texas. Visitation will be 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Monday, November 2, 2015 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Graveside service is scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, 2015, 11:00 AM, at Carlsbad Cemetery with Pastor Brad Coates officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Betty Polk was born May 17, 1930 in Altus, Arkansas to Sidney Elvis and Amy (Forbus) Stockton. She married Gerald "Jack" Dempsey Polk on August 24, 1946. They moved to Carlsbad in 1956 where they raised their two children. She was a full time homemaker. Betty enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids and liked to watch them play sports. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Agnes Bailey and Aileen Deerinwater. Survivors are her son, Jimmy Ray Polk and wife, Kathy of Los Alamos, NM; daughter, Brenda Jane Parten of De Soto, TX; grandchildren Rocky Polk and partner, Elayne Brucker, Tana Neal and husband, Bryan, Michelle Harris, Shawna Eades and husband, Geoff, Dan Harris and wife, Sara and nine great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Dan Harris, Cole Harris, Drew Harris, Hunter Eades, Bryan Neal and James Bailey. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
