Betty Jo Jones

Betty Jo Jones, 100, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away June 12, 2023 at her home.  Visitation will be 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.  Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 AM, Friday, June 16, 2023 at Fox and Lake Church of Christ with Dr. James Jones officiating.  Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Betty Jo Jones was born October 24, 1922 in Lake Arthur, NM to Sam and Lucy (Vermillion) Frank. She attended school in Malaga, NM.  Betty married Virgil Jones December 14, 1940 in Carlsbad, NM.  She enjoyed a variety of arts and crafts, gardening and especially fishing. Betty was baptized at Fox and Lake Church at the age of 16 shortly after the church was completed in 1938.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil Jones; granddaughter, Deborah Jean Speights; sisters: Lila May Reed Jones, Lucille Lowe and Jackie Lou Patton.

Survivors are her daughter, Carol Jean Jones; sons: Virgil Glenn Jones, Jr. and wife, Belinda, Frank Wayne Jones and wife, Pat; grandchildren: Rick Jones and wife, Brenda, Larry Gene Speights, Samantha Rayburn and husband, Lawrence, Wayne Jones and wife, Teresa, Trey Jones, Cherie D. Newton and husband, James, Deana Standard and husband, Steven; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Jones, Richard Jones, Bobby Dominguez, Steven Standard, Steven Standard, Jr., Jerrett Newton and James Newton.
