Obituary Betty Denton, 87, of N. Halagueno, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Lakeview Christian Home. Family will receive friends during the visitation from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Private services will be held. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Betty Denton was born April 21, 1930 in Boston, Massachusetts to John and Lily (McCants) Senter. She moved to Albuquerque as a young girl with her mother and sister. Betty graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1948 and attended the University of New Mexico. She met Perry Denton while at UNM and they married June 19, 1950 in Albuquerque. They lived in El Paso before moving to Carlsbad in 1964 to buy Carpenter Funeral Home. Together Perry and Betty owned and operated Denton Funeral Home over 28 years, retiring in 1992. Betty was very active in church and civicorganizations throughout the years. She helped in pioneering Search and Rescue and spent retirement years with Campers on Mission and Cavemen Sams. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gerald Denton and sister, Joan Eyring. Survivors are her husband, Perry Denton of Carlsbad, NM; sons: Lyndon Denton and wife, Kimmie of Tucson, Arizona, Norman Denton and wife, Sherrie of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Lindsay Castillo, Tiffany Garcia and husband, Jose, Dustin Denton and wife, Ashley; great-grandchildren: Brilei Fisher, Madison Denton, Sailor Denton and several nieces and nephews.
