Obituary Bette Lavon Chenault, 73, of S. 11th Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 at University Medical Center, Lubbock, Texas. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Tarvin officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Bette was born March 6, 1945 in Carlsbad, NM. She was raised in Carlsbad and raised her family in Carlsbad. Bette was dedicated to providing the best life she could for her family. She taught her children to love God and to treat others with respect. Bette encouraged us by reminding us that we could accomplish anything we set our hearts and hands to. She taught us compassion and hard work through the life that she lived. Bette was not just a mother to her own children; she was there for our cousins when they needed her. She took over the care of her sister with special needs after her parents passed. Bette was a wonderful grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She even took care of and adopted any stray dog or cat that wandered into her yard. Bette gave her all for us, and we will be forever indebted to her. We will cherish our memories of you, mom, and one day we will be reunited. Bette was preceded in death by her parents: Ralph Hand and Ruby Hand and brother, Otto Gail Hand. Survivors are her children: Bobby Dycus and wife, Maggie Dycus, Richele Denniston and husband, Jason Denniston, I, and Sunnie Chenault; grandchildren: Zachariah Dycus and wife, Kristen Dycus, Ryan Dycus, Jason Denniston, II and wife, Randa Denniston, Brandon Denniston, Austin Bradshaw, Matthew Bradshaw, Larissa Bradshaw, Kyllie Denniston; great-grandchildren: Ciera Davis, Adalyn Dycus, Liam Dycus, Ethan Denniston, Jason Denniston, III, Asher Dycus; brothers: Thomas Hand and wife, Pat Hand, Jerry Hand; sisters: Vicki Hand, Rhonda Allbright and husband, Barry Allbright and numerous nieces and nephews.
