Bertha Rubio Martinez

Bertha R. Martinez, 69, of S. Lum Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away August 19, 2024 at her home. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Monday, August 26, 2024, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gabe Rubio officiating. Interment will follow in Santa Catarina Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Bertha was born December 3, 1954, in Carlsbad, NM, to Simon V. and Irene (Bernal) Rubio. She worked in retail and restaurant industry for many years, most recently Hibbett Sports. Bertha loved cooking for her family as she was a wonderful cook. She was always there for her family and would do anything for any of them. Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; sons: Eloy Martinez and Jamie Martinez; brother, Simon Bodeen Rubio; sisters: Catina “Cat” Perez, and Amelia Lujan.

Survivors are her sons: Jason Christopher Martinez, and Simon J. Rubio and wife, Sara; grandchildren: Ashley Martinez and Pedro Trejo, Justine Rubio, Jasmine Rubio, Syann Rubio, and Simon G. Rubio; great-grandchildren: Kobe Trejo, Aalyiah Methola, Sebastian Methola, Marley Trejo, and Katalinna Trejo; siblings: Lorenzo Rubio, Diane Baiza, Victor “T.J.” Rubio, and Frankie Rubio; her beloved four-legged granddog, Roco, and numerous nieces and nephews.
