Bernice Helen Skinner ("Bea"), 83, of Carlsbad, New Mexico passed away November 8, 2021 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced.
Bea was born October 24, 1938 in Sublimity, Oregon, to Joseph and Amelia (Bruegeman) Wolf. She attended elementary and high school at St. Boniface Catholic School where she graduated as class valedictorian in 1956. She was employed as a cosmetologist for Eric of New York in Salem, Oregon for many years.
Bea married Donald E. Skinner on January 3, 1967 in Carlsbad, New Mexico, and together they were blessed with four children. While in Carlsbad, Bea was employed at Lakeview Christian Home as a cosmetologist. She valued her job and getting to know each resident, striving to make a difference in their lives. Bea is remembered for her wonderful sense of humor. She loved telling jokes and making others smile. She enjoyed reading, hiking, working jigsaw puzzles, and taking care of her grandchildren.
Bea was a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Carlsbad, where she loved her church congregation, sang in the choir, and taught Sunday School for many years. Bea is in Heaven today because she trusted in Jesus. She confessed He was her Lord and Savior and believed He rose from the dead; therefore, she has been saved by His grace through faith and nothing more (Romans 10:9 and Ephesians 2:8-9). She will be dearly missed.
Bea was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Skinner; son, James Donald Skinner ("Jim"); daughter, Sara Jane Skinner; stepson, Richard Skinner; step-grandson, David Gee; and sister, Elizabeth Minten. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Pigeon; daughter, Margaret (Raymond) Gee; stepson, Ron Skinner; stepson, Gary (Melisa) Skinner; grandson, Tate Shugart; grandson, Logan (Farryn) Burkham; grandson, Tanner Murphy; granddaughter, Katie Pigeon; grandson, Samuel Gee; step-grandson, Jeff (Kathy) Gee; great-grandson, Gideon Burkham; great-granddaughter, Ophelia Burkham; step-great-grandson, Anthony Menchaca; step-great-grandson, Nelson Gonzales; sister, Dolores Gries; sister, Lucille Wolf; sister, Patricia (Larry) Silbernagel; brother, Donald Wolf; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
