Bernice Loftis Rhoades

Bernice Loftis Rhoades, 86, of Alameda Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014 at her home. There will be no visitaiton, cremation will take place. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, October 18, 2014, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brad Coates officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Bernice Loftis Rhoades was born September 13, 1928 in Roaring Springs, TX to Clarence and Marie (Griffith) Loftis. She moved to Carlsbad at the age of five. Bernice married Billy Rhoades on January 7, 1946. Her passion in life was raising her children and later her grandchildren. Bernice was an excellent seamstress and also enjoyed crochet and reading. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy Rhoades; daughter, Louise Marie Rhoades and grandson, Billy Shawn Rhoades. Survivors are children: Joyce Pruitt and husband, Gene of Carlsbad, NM, Ronnie Rhoades and wife, Jeanne of Carlsbad, NM, Robert Rhoades and wife, Pam of Carlsbad, NM, Jennette Schoenherr and husband, Greg of Carlsbad, NM, Kathy Hernandez of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Suzanne Garza, Jon Killgore, Deke Killgore, David Rhoades, Donna Johns, Bobby Thomas, Mark Weems, James Rhoades, Crystal Ballew, Daniel Rhoades, Wade Schoenherr, Megan Schoenherr, Zachary Rhoades and Landry Hernandez; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandaughter; sisters: Clotel Walters, Cecilia Price, Gloria Bailey; brothers: Bob Loftis, Wayne Loftis; sepcial nephews, Damon Abbott and numerous nieces and nephews.
