Berl Dean Prouty

Berl Dean Prouty, a beloved son, brother, uncle, father, peepaw, and friend, passed away at home on November 24, 2024 in Ruidoso, NM. Berl was born on October 16, 1982 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Lavina Prouty. Berl was full of warmth and kindness and had a zest for life. 

Berl was known for his faith in the Lord our God and love for his family. He had a passion for music and the life of any gathering. His absence is deeply felt and will be forever cherished by his family and friends. As a father, friend, and community member, Berl touched the lives of many with his caring nature and generous spirit. He will be deeply missed by all fortunate enough to know him. 

As a native of Carlsbad, Berl built a career in the oilfield up until recently. He felt a need for change and relocated to Ruidoso. His last place of work was with King Industries proudly serving his community in professional cleanup of the fires and recent floods. Berl’s selflessness and willingness to give the shirt off his back made him a beloved figure among his friends and colleagues. 

Berl Dean Prouty is preceded in death by his grandmother, Anita Johnson; grandfather, Bill Grimes of Carlsbad, NM; uncles: Houston Jurney and Roy Beeson of Carlsbad, NM; aunt, Denise Jurney of Carlsbad, NM; cousin, Danny Jurney of Carlsbad, NM.

Berl is survived by his mother, LaVina Prouty of Carlsbad, NM; siblings: Cindy Prouty and David Norman of Ruidoso, NM, Bryan Prouty and wife, Adrianne of Carlsbad, NM, Billy Lambert of Carlsbad, NM; children: Cody Prouty and wife, Ashley; Shalie Prouty of Lubbock, TX, Peyton Prouty of Silver City, NM; grandchildren: Emersynn, Lucas and Brooks Prouty; aunts: Rene Grimes of Rockport, TX, Jonice Ferguson of Roswell, NM, and Gayle Babb of Visalia, CA, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

In this time of grief let us remember him for the light he brought into the lives of those around him. His kindness and compassion will leave a lasting impact on each of us and his memory will shine brightly in every one of our hearts. 

Rest in paradise, Berl Dean Prouty. Your presence in our lives will never be forgotten and until we see you again let us remember to rejoice in your return home. As Jesus says in John 14:1-3: “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also." 

Family and friends are asked to join us to remember and honor Berl’s life. The service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Central Christian Church, 305 N Oak St, Carlsbad, NM with Andy Harris officiating. Interment will take place at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.
