Obituary Ben D. Chavez, 66, of Iowa Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away December 4, 2019. Cremation will take place. A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Ben was born December 7, 1952 in Carlsbad, NM to Benjamin Chavez and Eloisa Saldaa. He was proud of the fact that he was a golden glove boxer. Ben was a very caring person and loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Charles Chavez. Survivors are his daughter, Cynthia Chavez; grandchildren; siblings: Mary Saldaa, Della Martinez, Thomas Saldaa and Nila Rainhart, Linda Matta, MaryAnn Johnson, Erma Chavez, Siria Chavez and Alice Estrada and husband, Rudy and numerous nieces and nephews.
