Beckie Melvin

We regretfully announce the passing of Beckie Melvin, 69, of Carlsbad, NM. Beckie passed away on June 13, 2023 as the result of a car accident.

Beckie was born to Roscoe and Ramona Melvin on November 15, 1953 in Herrin, Illinois. She graduated from Carlsbad High School and earned an Associates of Applied Science in Occupational Health and Safety in 1998 from San Jacinto College.

Through the years, Beckie was employed in a variety of positions from shoe sell person to safety officer.

She worked in potash and copper mines. She did electrical, mechanic and welding work. She worked construction. But her true career love was safety. Beckie was determined to make the world a safer place. If she saw a concern, she was going to tell you how to fix it.

Beckie tried to retire due to health concerns, but found she needed to help where she could spending hours helping friends and family and being a hand-person to her church.

Many do not know she was quite artistic. Pen and ink was one of her favorite mediums. Anyone who met Beckie knew she loved her dogs. She loved to sing and was leading music at her church until her death.

Beckie loved her Lord and was going to share of His goodness and mercy with everyone she met. The scripture on her daily readings the day she passed away was "I am creating something new in you; a bubbling spring of Joy that spills over into others' lives... Watch in delight as My Spirit flows through you to bless others. Let yourself become a reservoir of the Spirit's fruit." John 3:8

Beckie is survived by her mother - Ramona Melvin; sister-in-law Doris Melvin; brothers Mark Melvin (wife Sharon) and Tom Worsham (wife Bev); and sister - Teresa Allery (husband Walt). She was loved by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father - Roscoe Melvin and brother - Darrel Melvin.

We will celebrate her life June 30, 2023 at Hillcrest Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at 10:00 AM. The family requests donations be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
