Basilia "Bessie" Trevio Mata, 71, of Willow Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Albuquerque, NM.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, October 31, 2012, 2:00 PM, at Oasis Christian Fellowship with Pastor Alberto Alvarez officiating.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Basilia "Bessie" Trevio Mata was born June 14, 1941 in Loving, NM to Lorenzo and Annastica (Florez) Trevio. She married Robert Mata, Sr., in 1972. Bessie worked as a cook in numerous restaurants over the years. She was known for her baking and everyone loved her wedding cookies and her famous tamales. Bessie enjoyed playing Bingo, but most of all she cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Lorenzo Trevio.
She is survived by her husband, Robert G. Mata, Sr.; six children: Terry Flowers and husband, Mark, Tony Zapata, Mary Ann Lozano and husband, Adolfo, Robert Mata, Jr., Steve Mata and wife, Marlene, Loretta Jacobs and husband, John; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; four brothers: Guadalupe Trevio and wife, Sandy, Viviano Trevio and wife, Delia, Taurino "T.J." Trevio and wife, Josie, Ernesto Trevio and wife, Anna, sister, Francica Trevio and numerous niecs and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Contreras, Darren Mata, Anthony Zapata, Mark Flowers, Jr., Aurelio Lozano and Lee Franco.
