Barbara Veilleux

Barbara Johnston Veilleux, 86, of West Pierce St., Carlsbad New Mexico, passed away Monday, October 17, 2011 at Lakeview Christian Home. Visitation will be 3 PM to 7 PM, Monday, October 24, 2011 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 10 AM at St. Edwards Catholic Church with Father Cyprian Uline, OFM, Conv, officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad New Mexico beside her beloved husband, Felix. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Barbara Johnston Veilleux was born on September 24, 1925, to Raymond J. Johnston and Bridget Agnes (Shaughnessy) Johnston in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston. She graduated from John Bapst High School in Bangor, Maine. She married Felix Roland Veilleux at St. Johns Catholic Church in Bangor on October 23, 1944, sixty-seven years ago today. The family moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico, in September of 1954. Barbara was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church for 57 years. She was a devoted wife and mother and good friend, especially to her special group of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Felix, and her parents, along with her two aunts that helped raise her, Mamie and Georgie McNamara, and her older sister Elaine Outz. She is survived by her children, Tom Veilleux and wife Peggy of Chandler, Az., Mike Veilleux and wife Pat of Carlsbad, NM, Cyndy Smilanich and husband Bobby of Grand Junction, Co., Rosemary Lara and husband Mario of Carlsbad, NM, sister, Priscilla Lehman of Littleton Mass., grandchildren: Sean, Mark, Kate, Noelle, Tammy, Jeff, Todd, Angela, Cole, Lindsey, Austin, Danielle, Mario Jr., and Gwen, 36 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Tom Veilleux, Mike Veilleux, Mark Veilleux, Jeff Veilleux, Mario Lara, Danielle Lara, Bobby Bowen and Jake Bowen.
