Barbara Anaya Serrano

Barbara Anaya Serrano, 55, former resident, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2024 at her aunt’s home in Carlsbad. Visitation will be 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Wednesday, October 16, 2024, followed by a vigil at 6:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 17, 2024 at San Jose Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Barbara was born June 11, 1969, in Carlsbad, NM. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1987. Barbara worked as a secretary at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Jal for many years. She enjoyed her work as a photographer, D.J., gardening and watching the Cowboys. Barbara cherished the time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Molina; grandparents that raised her, Jesus and Felicita Anaya.

Survivors are her sons: Mario Serrano, Jr., Cecil Villanueva; daughter, Maria Villanueva; grandchildren: Aztec Villanueva and Angel Salgado; father, Robert Anaya; sister, Maria Estella Anaya; brothers: Bobby Castillo and Jesus Anaya.

Pallbearers will be Nufo Gomez, Samuel Juarez, Francisco Ramos, Pablo Franco, Javier Santillan, and Ariel Lopez. Honorary pallbearers are Emi Gardea and Armando Gardea Garcia.
