Barbara Jean Rackley, 79, former resident, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at her home in California.
Visitation will be 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Monday, October 21, 2013 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, October 22, 2013, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor D. Michael Lee officiating.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Barbara Jean Rackley was born June 4, 1934 in Benton, Arkansas to Jewell Ellis and Edna Viola (Edmundson) Buffington. Barbara married Billy W. Rackley on August 25, 1952 in Malverer, Arkansas. She worked for Carlsbad Municipal School District for 13 years as a cook and kitchen manager until her retirement. Barbara was a past American Legion Auxiliary member. She loved to paint and enjoyed fishing with her husband. Barbara liked to golf and play bingo. She enjoyed doing yard work and cooking for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy Winthford Rackley in 1996; daughters: Glenda Sumler, Karen Jeannette Rackley; granddaughter, Amanda Smith; infant great-grandchildren; infant sister, Julia Ann Canada; two brothers: Jewell Ellis Buffington, Jr. and Milton Maurice Buffington.
Survivors are her sons: John Rackley of Prescott Valley, AZ, James Rackley of Moreno Valley, CA; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and sister, Armetha Mae Reynolds of Benton, Arkansas.
