Barbara J. Bowering, 67, of West Edwards Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Lubbock Heart Hospital in Lubbock, TX. Services will be held at a later date with Bro. Jimmy Tarvin officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Barbara J. Bowering was born May 17, 1946 in Capitan, New Mexico to Robert Bishop and Dixie Vaughn (Axley) Martin. She married Norman Bowering on November 26, 1988 in Las Vegas, NV. She was a member of Happy Valley Baptist Church. She enjoyed visiting with her family and friends on facebook. Barbara loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Bobbi Wilson; and brother, Leslie Leon Martin. Survivors are her husband, Norman Bowering of Carlsbad, NM; daughters: Juanita Purcell of Florida, Donna Jergins of Carlsbad, Brenda Gray of Carlsbad; stepdaughters: Debra Morin and husband, Grant of Loving, Bonnie Heeter and husband, Bobby of Montana, Shelley Kurschner and husband, Steve of Montana, Lori Silva of Waxahachie, TX; step-son, Dwayne Bowering of Coleman, TX; sisters: Jerri Barnard and husband, Roland of Portales, NM, Linda Montgomery of Carlsbad, NM; brothers: Roy Martin and wife, Darlene of Carlsbad, Randall Martin of Carlsbad and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
