Barbara Hanson

Barbara Hanson, 58, of Trevino Court, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away January 14, 2011 at her home. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Wednesday, January 19, 2011, 11:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Terry McKean officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Barbara Hanson was born January 6, 1953 in Los Angeles, California to Harold and Betty (Hill) Johnson. She attended school in California and Missouri. After Amanda was born, Barbara worked hard as a single mother to support Amanda. She married Carlyle P. "Russ" Hanson, Jr. on May 21, 1994 in Grapevine, Texas. They moved to Carlsbad in 2002. Barbara was an avid golfer. She loved her two "Yorkies," Rusty and Dusty. Barbara enjoyed the Harley road trips, fishing and was a member of the Elks # 1558 and American Legion. She often spent time in Ruidoso and Inn of the Mountain Gods. She is survived by her husband, Carlyle P. "Russ" Hanson, Jr.; daughter, Amanda Kohl and husband, Martin of Dallas, TX; step-daughter, Laura M. Garrett and husband, Rob of Dallas, TX; two stepsons: Joseph Hanson and wife, Kelly of Austin, TX, Michael Hanson of Seattle, WA; grandson, Logan Hanson; two brothers: William Johnson, Harold Johnson; sister, Darlene Johnson and several nieces and nephews.
