Barbara E. Bartlett

Barbara E. Bartlett, 71, of Texas Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be Friday, December 9, 2011, 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Graveside Services are scheduled for Saturday, December 10, 2011, 2:00 PM, at Carlsbad Cemetery with Brett Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Barbara E. Bartlett was born March 27, 1940 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Fines Clark and Lillie Frances (Ballard) Nelson. As a child, Barbara's family, remember her as a very giving unselfish little girl. Throughout her life she always helped her family and friends. During her early teen years, she worked with her mom and sisters at their family owned business, the Caboose Caf. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1958. Her great loves were her family, church and studying the Word. In her later years she became a very proficient Scrabble player, playing and trumping her husband almost every time they played. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mary Evelyn Michalski. She is survived by her husband, Jimmie C. Bartlett of Carlsbad, NM; daughter,Nathalia L. Chadwick of Austin, TX; son, Kevin N. Bartlett of Carlsbad, NM; three grandchildren: Rivers Hawkins Chadwick of Carlsbad, NM, Lisa Marie Chadwick of Austin, TX, Tiffani Kylyn Chadwick of Ft. Polk, Louisiana; two great-grandsons: Titus Bell and Donovin Bell and sister, Wanda Williams and husband, Richard of Rio Rancho, NM. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
