Aurora S. Alvarado

Aurora S. Alvarado, 86, of North 4th Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Thursday, April 4, 2013 at San Jose Catholic Church, 1002 De Baca. A Vigil is scheduled for Thursday, April 4, 2013, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, April 5, 2013, 2:00 PM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Aurora S. Alvarado was born May 9, 1926 in Dayton, New Mexico to Cosme and Maria (Gomez) Saiz. She enjoyed going to the senior citizen center and she liked to drive around. Aurora liked to dance. Her family was her life. She was a member of San Jose Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Elario Hernandez in 1988, Ishmael Alvarado, 2007; grandchildren: Lenora, Paul, Michael; great-grandson, Adam, Jr.; eight sisters and brothers. Survivors are six children: Alice H. Briones and husband, Delbert of Carlsbad, NM, Ishmael Hernandez and wife, Maria of Phoenix, AZ, Lilly Hernandez Galaviz and husband, Jose of Phoenix, AZ, Loli H. Sandoval of Carlsbad, NM, Lorena Hernandez of Phoenix, AZ, Carolyn H. Valenzuela and husband, Ronald of Phoenix, AZ; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Andy G. Armendariz of Phoenix, AZ and two sisters: Guadalupe G. Saiz of Fresno, CA and Daria G. Saiz of Fresno, CA. Pallbearers are Ishmael Hernandez, Elliseo Cantu, Brian Valenzuela, Xavier Hernandez, Christian Hernandez and Vincent Hernandez.
