Augustina "Tina" Renteria

Augustina "Tina" Renteria, 82, of Juarez Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Thursday, May 30, 2013, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, May 31, 2013, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Augustina "Tina" Renteria was born on May 28, 1930, in Wichita Falls, Texas to Epmanuel "Pat" and Carlota (Martinez) Melendrez. She was married to Jose Renteria for 25 years and were together for more than 60 years. Tina was an active member of San Jose Catholic Church. She loved the church and always helped people in need. Tina also loved her kids and grandkids. She was always smiling and enjoyed dancing. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jose Renteria in July 2007; grandson, Antonio Valenzuela; great-grandchild, Joseph Sanchez; two sisters and four brothers. Survivors are her children: Joe Melendrez of Haywood, California, Sammy Renteria and wife, Trudy of Carson City, Nevada, Priscilla R. Doporto and husband, Andres of Alamogordo, NM, Mary Nelson and husband, John of Las Cruces, NM, Linda Fierro of Dallas, Texas, Edward Renteria of Carlsbad, NM, Richard Fierro and wife, Darlene of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren: Candelaria, Yvonne, Valerie, Brenda, Michelle and Michael; 14 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; dear niece and friend, Sally Guitierez; and numerous nieces and nephews Pallbearers will be Kenny Sanchez, Gerard Duarte, Danny Melendrez, Bobby Detrick, Luis Sanchez and Benjamin Rodriguez.
