Aubuary "Paul" Mitchell

Aubuary “Paul” Mitchell, 80, of N. 3rd Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away October 2, 2024 at his home. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 7, 2024 at Happy Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Paul was born April 16, 1944 in Port Arthur, Texas to Aubuary and Helen (Fox) Mitchell. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1964 where he played football and ran track. Paul married Linda Gee April 19, 1965 here in Carlsbad. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1967 where he was a medic. Paul attended NMSU-Carlsbad on the G.I. Bill. He worked in the lab at Duval Potash for nine years. He then worked at the U.S. Post Office for nine years as well. Paul owned the distributorship for Nature’s Best Dairy where he delivered dairy products to many businesses in Carlsbad. He also worked in the oilfield until retiring in 2014. Paul enjoyed photography, gardening, and was an accomplished pastel artist.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Heather Burrington and brother, Jesse Mitchell.

Survivors are his wife, Linda B. Mitchell; daughter, Michelle Carlson and husband, Jerry; son-in-law, Tod Burrington; grandchildren: Michael Petracca and wife, Jessica, Matthew Paul Petracca and wife, Elora, Autumn Shafer and fiancé, Chevy Duff; great-grandchildren: Noah, Malcom, Elliott and Evelyn; sisters: Kathleen Allison and husband, Larry, Judy Vandenberg and numerous nieces and nephews.
