Arthur J. "A.J." Price, 88, of Westridge Road, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Landsun Homes.
There will be no visitation, cremation will take place.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, May 24, 2013, 2:00 PM, at Landsun Otto Chapel with Chaplain Sammie Ellis officiating.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors.

Arthur J. "A.J." Price was born January 31, 1925 in Clovis, NM to Ed and Pearl (Reed) Price. He moved to Artesia, NM as a young boy. A. J. attended Artesia schools, played guard on the Bulldogs State Champion Basketball team. He joined the Marines soon after the attack on Pearl Harbor and spent a considerable amount of time in China. A. J. was wounded in action and received a purple heart. After returning home from WWII, he worked for PCA and was active in organizing the unions for the mines. A. J. was also active with Carlsbad politics. After his retirement from PCA he owned and operated the Sands Bar for a while. He will be remembered for his warm smile and steel blue eyes. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vera Price; sons: Steven Ray Price, Arthur Scott Price; grandsons: Craig Price, Robbie Young and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors are two sons: Reed Price and wife, Belinda of Carlsbad, NM, Jimmy Elwell of St. Petersburg, FL; three daughters: Brenda Campbell and husband, Mike of Artesia, NM, Debby Ballard and husband, Harley of Carlsbad, NM, Paula Elwell of Ruidoso, NM; six grandchildren: Leslie Frintz, Arthur R. Price, Stephanie Canon, Kellie J. White, Garrett Price, Donnie Gibson; numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister, Kathleen and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be past PCA Employees and Trust Committee.
