Arnult P. Mitchell, Jr., 88, of W. Pierce Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017 at Lakeview Christian Home. A Rosary will be recited Friday, June 16, 2017, 12:00 Noon and visitation will follow until 2:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, June 17, 2017, 2:00 PM, at St. Edward Catholic Church with Fr. Pasala Hruday Kumar officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Arnult Paul Mitchell was born to A. P. and Margaret (Oliver) Mitchell December 4, 1928 in Central City, Kentucky. He attended Catholic school in Central City until 1938 when the family moved to Bisbee, Arizona and then later to Carlsbad where he graduated from Carlsbad High School. Arnult married Rose Marie Supina May 14, 1949 at St. Edward Catholic Church where they have remained active members. Arnult worked with his father at Mitchell's Moving and Storage for a number of years. He and Rose Marie later owned and operated Mitchell's Music and Radio Shack Computer Center until retiring in 1984. Arnult gave of himself in many areas of his life. He was a member of the Lion's Club, Toastmasters, Knights of Columbus where he was Faithful Navigator 4th Degree and past Grandknight. He was also a member of Cavemen Sam's and served as assistant state director of New Mexico Good Sam's Club and was one of the founders of Jonah's House. Arnult was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Regina Milavec; son-in-law, Danny Joe Lyle and granddaughter, Rebekkah Lyle. Survivors are his wife, Rose Marie Mitchell of Carlsbad, NM; children: Linda Lyle of Albuquerque, NM, Ginger Mitchell and husband George Brown of Denver, CO, Sharon Theresa Mitchell and husband Michael Moriarty of Boise, ID, Paul Mitchell and wife, Genevieve of Albuquerque, NM, George Mitchell of Hobbs, NM, Maryanne Carter and husband, Jim of Littleton, CO; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jonah's House, 512 W. Stevens St., Carlsbad, NM 88220 Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com
