Antonio "Tony" Chavez, 49, of Pineview Lane, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Monday, April 15, 2013 at Oasis Christian Fellowship. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, April 16, 2013, 2:00 PM, at Oasis Christian Fellowship with Pastor Alberto Alvarez officiating. Interment will follow in Loving Cemetery, Loving, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Antonio "Tony" Chavez was born March 15, 1964 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Armando G. and Paula (Vasquez) Chavez. Tony worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier for the last 23 years. He was a devoted and dedicated husband who loved his family dearly. He also was a humble and quiet man with a heart of gold, always putting everyone else first by what he did. He loved spending time with his friends and family, working on the farm and going to antique stores with his wife. He will be missed by many who knew and loved him. Yet he is now made whole in heaven, rejoicing with the angels, giving praise to God. Survivors are his wife: Lisa (Campos) Chavez; son: Joshua Chavez of Carlsbad, New Mexico; daughter: Kristen Chavez of Carlsbad, New Mexico; brothers: Armando Chavez, Jr and wife, Margie of Loving, New Mexico; Lupe Chavez and wife, Dana of Carlsbad, New Mexico; Arturo Chavez and wife, Rina of Carlsbad, New Mexico; Alvian Chavez of Loving, New Mexico; sisters: Rosa Chavez of Carlsbad, New Mexico and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Alonzo Campos, Tony Campos, Armando Chavez, Jr., Art Chavez, Alvian Chavez, Lupe Chavez, Joshua Chavez, Michael Chavez.
