Antonia Acosta

Antonia Acosta, 93, of S. Maple Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at her home. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Friday, September 2, 2016 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A vigil is scheduled for Friday, September 2, 2016, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, September 3, 2016, 2:00 PM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Deacon Tony Dominguez officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Antonia Acosta was born August 27, 1923 in El Mulato, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jose and Juliana (Bustamante) Garcia. She married Ismael Acosta May 15, 1940. They moved to Carlsbad in 1975. Antonia enjoyed sewing and sewed for the family many years. She loved cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. Antonia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ismael Acosta and sister, Lydia Caballero. Survivors are her children: Elpidia Morales, Jose I. Acosta and Sylvia Rodriguez, Maria Rico and husband, Leonel, Hector Acosta and wife, Hortencia; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Raul Garcia; sisters: Rosa Payan, Ofelia Cantu and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Jose Acosta, Hector Acosta, Leonel Rico, Sr., Leonel Rico, Jr., Reynaldo Medina and Romulo Medina. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com
