Anthony "Tony" Rodriguez

Anthony "Tony" Rodriguez, 52, of W. Irvin Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Friday, April 21, 2017 in Ft. Worth, Texas. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Friday, April 28, 2017 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A vigil is scheduled for Friday, April 28, 2017, 7:00 PM, at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, April 29, 2017, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Cordero officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Anthony "Tony" Rodriguez was born January 18, 1965 in Carlsbad, NM to Johnny S. and Delia (Renteria) Rodriguez. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1983. Tony retired from the City of Carlsbad, Solid Waste Department in 2013, after 27 years of service. He loved sports, both playing and coaching. Most of his enjoyment came from coaching and watching his son, Trystan, whom he referred to as "Monster", play sports. Tony was an avid golfer, card player, bowler and Cowboys fan. He cherished the time spent with family and friends. Tony was preceded in death by his father, Johnny S. Rodriguez, Sr. and grandmother, Maria Saldaa Ramirez. Survivors are his son, Trystan Urquidez-Rodriguez of Carlsbad, NM; mother, Delia R. Rodriguez; brothers: Johnny R. Rodriguez, Jr. and Danny Rodriguez; nieces and nephews: Vennessa Canales, Christopher Rodriguez, Justin "Wedo" Rodriguez, Samantha Palma, Joshua Rodriguez, Valerie Rodriguez and Jared Rodriguez and numerous great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. Pallbearers will be Christopher Rodriguez, Wedo Rodriguez, Josh Rodriguez, Jared Rodriguez, Noy Quintela and Sal Najar. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com
