Annie Lee Oliver Conner was born the 2nd child of Zibbie & Bunnie Oliver on May 10, 1912 in Tadmore, Texas in the David Crockett National Forest. Annie ended up being the oldest child after her older brother died when she was eight years old. At the age of 101, Annie passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Landsun Homes. Annie married Earl W. Conner February 24, 1932. They lived most of their married life in Houston County except for the time they lived on a farm in Roosevelt County New Mexico from 1950 until 1971. Annie was a hard worker and loved making things grow. She always raised a big garden and canned a lot of produce to help feed the family during the winter. She also was a very good seamstress and made most of the clothing for their three daughters. She was a master quilt artist and made beautiful gift quilts for family members. After Earl's death February 10, 1993, Annie moved into the home of granddaughter Pam and husband Rocky Johnson and their two young children for over 13 years. She moved with them to various places including the United Arab Emirate. Annie enjoyed doing a lot of traveling while living with the Johnson family. They went to Jordan and ancient Petra while Annie was in the UAE. Annie was a great story teller and entertained family and friends with her stories about her life all during the years. She loved to sing and seemed to have a song in her heart and on her lips through good times and hard times. She had a great love for her Lord Jesus Christ. Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Earl of almost 61 years, her parents, Zibbie & Bunnie Oliver three brothers Ervin, Dwern & G.E. and three sisters, Virgie Mae Patton, Vera Marie Oliver and a Baby Girl who died at birth. She is survived by three daughters: Earlene Van Winkle and husband, Wayne 'Pete' of Carlsbad, NM, Annese Dyer and husband, John of Albuquerque, NM, Winfred 'Wendy' Jones and husband, Kenneth 'Bucky' of Delta, CO; five granddaughters: Waynta Wirth and husband, Paul of Ruidoso, NM, Pam Johnson and husband, Rocky of the UAE, Debi Rodrigues and husband, Reuben of Rio Rancho, NM, Pattie Salazar and husband, Troy of Pueblo, CO, Becky McMillan and husband, Gary of Rio Rancho, NM; two grandsons: John Jones of Williston, ND, Dan Dyer of Trinidad, CO; thirteen great-grandchildren: Sarah Calaway and husband, John, Jaime Wirth and fiancee, Shane Grubbs, Jessica and Justin Johnson, Jonathan, David and Sophia Rodrigues, Skye and Sean Salazar, Hailey, Amanda and Maya McMillan, Zachary Klein; one great-great-grandson, Cohen Van Calaway; two sisters: Eunice Conner and husband, Billy Dean, Mavis Marek; one brother, Charlie Oscar Oliver and wife, Oueida and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Friday, November 15, 2013 at Callaway-Allee Funeral Home in Crockett, Texas. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Callaway-Allee Funeral Home Chapel, 700 East Houston, Crockett, TX 75835. Interment will follow in Conner Cemetery, Houston City, Texas. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the local arrangements.
